What is the penalty for driving without a valid CA license?

I'm 17 and a half, I just got a ticket for driving without a license and for curfew because it was 10:22(past 10pm is curfew). I don't have a license to start with, i just have a permit but i didn't have it with me at the moment. How will they penalize me? (Will they do that thing where I can't get my license until I'm 21??)
