Can I stop taking antibiotics after 1 tablet?
Check with your doctor or pharmacist about any particular antibiotic (and read any literature that came with it). Usually once an antibiotic is started the entire course should be completed otherwise it may kill only the weak bacteria and leave you with stronger antibiotic-resistant bugs (that you are not even being treated for). Also, your doctor needs to know whether a prescribed treatment is working in case further treatment is in order later. You don't want a condition to return because you stopped treatment. A doctor should know of all other medications you are taking when prescribing a new drug because of possible interactions that strengthen or weaken the new drug or produce side effects. Always talk to your doctor about any concerns.
