If your account is suspended on Y!A, do you lose access to your email address to?

My friend recently got suspended for seemingly no apparent reaon.She tried to appeal but got an email saying her account would not be reinstated. It was worded stange but from what she gathered from it, they were also telling her that her email account would soon be shut down. Is that true?
