Should I get a cell phone?

I want a cell phone because I am very responsible and I need one badly because of dances and practices, etc. I want a Razr and my mom has no objection to that or me getting a cell phone. I'm basically paying for it and all of my friends have one. Is this good enough a reason to get one?
